My name is David Gregory and I am a photographer based in beautiful Vancouver, BC. I grew up in Auckland, New Zealand and have always loved adventure and travel. My photography began as a backpacker exploring the world. Working with and learning from amazing people from across the planet continues to be a major motivation for me.
Documentary photography and creating editorial portraits of people in their own environment is my specialisation. Key themes in this work are storytelling and the search for beauty in the everyday. I really like photographing people looking strong and confident while enjoying doing what they are good at.
Using both natural and studio lighting I find inspiration from cinema to bring drama to a scene. By traveling light I can move around easily and capture the images I want, anywhere from mountain tops to rooftops, beaches to balconies, boardrooms to ballrooms.
In 2014 I graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Art (Photography) from the renowned Emily Carr University of Art and Design in Vancouver, BC. During my studies I apprenticed with commercial photographers on architecture, editorial and fashion assignments and interned at the internationally recognized Presentation House Gallery. I like to be organized – for the last 15 years I have also worked in business administration and project management, coordinating and planning projects of all sizes.
Achieving the best outcomes for clients is important to me. If you have a travel or portrait photography assignment you are considering, please contact me now to discuss how I can work with you, your family or your clients on your next project:
